The philosophy

The telecommunications technological revolution is defining the character of the post-industrial culture in which we have already been immersed for 4 decades. At the same time, the cities are conquering a major role in the organisation of our society, and it is those cities which are capable of developing a differentiated and attractive personality making up the nodes of international economics thanks to dynamic social structures which make these urban successes possible. The key for contemporary cities resides in their capacity to be able to attract economic and human capital with strong innovative character...
... and CiudadCity is also a network of cities.

But we?re not a .com company!
CiudadCity is a new idea of a city, an urban structure constructed on digital territory, a city which is open,
international,
democratic,
flexible,
sustainable,
civil,
secular,
and a real mixture ...
... a contemporary city projected into cyberspace by institutions which trust us and with whom we work (logically) in their physical cities.

Rather than just talking about cities we should perhaps speak of metropolitan regions which operate as authentic urban organisms, going beyond political and administrative limits. And the attraction capacity of these new urban territories depends directly on an evermore complex and demanding concept ? quality of life.

This new large scale scenario is mainly fruit of extraordinary economic interactivity, or globalisation, and demands a new metropolitan culture conceived from the scale of the territory in which innovation and sustainability must be major players.

We need more imaginative strategies helping us to define a contemporary city which is both democratic and sustainable; a territory of innovation for all of us who use the city. Because today, after the disappearance of the economic and cultural circumstances which brought about the Traditional City and the Modern City, our current reality has very little to do with the traditional way of shaping cities and living in them.

An evermore extensive example of the new communication technologies is modifying the way of using territory and urban space. These trends must offer us new intuitions in order to rethink the Contemporary City. We need new transformations and new opportunities which require new instruments and flexible strategies which are friendly, soft, technological, interactive, etc.

As city-dwellers we must respond with contemporary cultural and stable structures to the delirious vertigo induced by the changes to which the city and territory are submitted, recognising urban and territorial reality as something extraordinarily complex with fascinating new potentialities which must help us to achieve a sustainable balance between the developed and developing societies.

This is our time to live, for us and for CiudadCity.
