| THE CONCEPT
The CiudadCity Navigation System is an information organisation instrument based where this information is generated geographically.
Although it originally began to be developed from the point of view of managing the Historic City for the internet environment, the customer institutions involved in CiudadCity have understood that this collection of tools also has the potential and the vocation to be the frame which can sustain ambitious management and communication initiatives of a territorial and urban nature.
It was created with the vocation of offering innovative tools for managing urban and territorial activity for the different protagonists, creating a common language which can be shared and exploited on different territorial scales. The System is offered to the web pages of the user institutions and those of the different protagonist-activities (professional associations, designers, companies, museums, etc.), so that they can use them to manage their activity throughout the territory.
It offers a shared database system which, in combination with the Navigator, allows the use of search engine tools as well as developing personalised e-economy and communication applications. In some ways the CiudadCity Navigation System is basically a Geographic Information System; however it is not only aimed at data analysis, but easing the interactivity of a territory?s protagonists. On the other hand, from the technological point of view the platform operates freely via Internet with all the navigators and without special hardware needs or requiring software to be downloaded and installed in the ?navigating? user?s computer.
Throughout the ?constructed territory? based on a 3D cartography, the information which the different territory protagonists manage and maintain with these tools is structured around thematic channels which can be shared, and therefore added, to configure the navigator which each (web) user needs.
